Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at Dean Foods Join the talented team at the nation’s leading dairy company at our Cottage Cheese and Sour Cream facility in Rockford, IL.   Dean Foods is seeking an experienced Technician.  You must have at least 2 years maintaining high speed, close tolerance production machinery.  Electrical, PLC, Ammonia Refrigeration or Machine Shop experience would be a big plus.  Strong Base Rate plus amazing Benefits that include a Pension as well as 401(k) matching.   Initial Training may occur on Day shift, but you will probably move to second or third based on union seniority.  It is even likely that this new technician will work Midnight to 8AM every Thursday through Monday so please only apply if you are willing to work ANY shift and schedule.    This is a professional role at a stable company that is part of the nation’s largest dairy processor.   Do you have at least 2 years of experience as an industrial machine repair technician? Operations Apprentice Products and co-workers you can be proud of.   Dean Foods/Midwest Ice Cream in Belvidere and Teamsters Local 754 are very pleased to announce their inaugural Operations Apprenticeship Program.    As one of the area’s premier employers with a very strong Wage/Benefit package it has been our practice to only hire those with years of Production experience.  Manufacturing is hard work and not everyone is suited to it.  We are able to successfully find great workers from other producers in the area and lure them with our Wages and Benefits.  Those newer to the workforce or with less manufacturing experience haven’t had a chance . . . until now.    This program will allow us to accept a less experienced person with outstanding potential and very specifically train them to meet the highest expectations of Safety, Quality and Efficiency.    One brave candidate will be selected to be the first person entering this Apprenticeship.  You must be willing and able to work/train on whatever shift week-to-week that best supports the company and intentions of the program.  Weekends may also be included.    The Challenges: - The Apprenticeship will last up to 12 months. - The learning demands are almost - It’s a truly fast-paced environment using complex machinery. - You are expected to give the job absolute priority. - You must work within all Safety proceduresplus using common sense. - You must uphold all Quality standards without fail. - You will not be eligible for vacation for up to 12 months subject to your start-date, the vacation schedule and the Contract. - At $17/hour you will be making $8/hour LESS than most of your colleagues. - Your employment can be terminated for any legal reason at any time during this program. - You would be subject to lay-off before colleagues who have completed their probationary period. - This program is intended to last 12 months. Warm outerwear and other protections are provided but this is a physical challenge for some people. - This includes the use of material handling equipment such as Forklifts, Barrel Lifts, Motorized Pallet Jacks. - Although regular breaks are provided, those are the only times during their shift that our production colleagues do not work. The primary function of this position is to perform troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and installations of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and plumbing equipment and machinery, as well as, fabricate and modify parts in accordance with blueprints, drawings, plans and schematics according to a set schedule and in emergency and non- emergency situations.  Work from preventative maintenance schedules, various checklists, maintenance manuals, diagrams, specifications and blueprints.  Diagnose and troubleshoot a variety of electrical and electronic problems involving control and conventional wiring, temperature control circuits, as well as electronic circuits and equipment.  Tear down unit or system and make any necessary mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing or heating repairs, adjustments or replacements.  Replace defective devices, modules, breakers, circuit boards, change fuses, adjust and test operate in-house designed control panels.  Wire and assemble limited equipment designed by Engineering and perform operating check on all assembled equipment.  Perform bench repairs to fit and assemble bearings, shafts, spindles, gears, rotors and motors.  Repair of electrical equipment and apparatus including, panel-boards, switchboards, electronic and control equipment, apparatus, alarm and communication systems, feeders, branch circuits and fixtures as required  Set-up and teardown production equipment, perform changeovers and overhauls as required.  Perform work in refrigeration systems checking electrical control and related maintenance on plant heating equipment.  Fabricate, sharpen, repair or modify parts to work order specifications, using lathes, surface grinders, mills, drills and other power tools.  Perform routine welding and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment as required and special projects as assigned.  Assist all Trades with repairs, replacements, adjustments, modifications to equipment, machinery, wiring, piping etc. as directed.  Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.  Perform similar or related operations as assigned, perform basic housekeeping and complete all related paperwork as required.  High School Diploma / GED required  Must have HVAC, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration certification.  1- 3 years experience in experience electro-mechanical maintenance.  Must be able to maintain Good Manufacturing Practices.  Must be able to stand and walk for extended period of time.  Must be able to use drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of meters and diagnostic equipment.  Must complete the company Forklift / pallet jack training and obtain certificate.  Must have basic computer skills and fundamentals.  Must be able to successfully complete required safety training for role

Freezer Stacker   JOB SUMMARY: Ensures that freezer requirements are maintained and only the highest quality product is stacked on pallets for delivery to customers/consumers.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following:  Other duties may be assigned. - Ensures all pallets are stacked according the specifications.. - Ensures that all products stacked meet the highest quality standards. - Ensures that pallets are stacked appropriately, all packages are in good condition, and accurately labeled for shipment. - Maintains freezer / cooler in neat and orderly condition at all times. - Must be able to make basic decisions without direct supervision. The supervisor is available by phone, however, the associate must work independently. Must complete daily assignments. - Responsible for reporting food safety or quality problems to management and assist in implementing corrective action measures. - Ensures that finished product is stored properly after stacking.  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, have knowledge of the Warehouse Management System.
