    The Group Director Logistics I has responsibility for a division’s logistics function.  This role will be accountable for meeting all financial commitments, will own safety, and will ensure customer expectations are met all the time, every time.  This position will be responsible for demonstrating the Dean Foods Guiding Principles and utilizing Continuous Improvement (CI) resources in building team capability and unity. He/she will have specific budget accountability and will ensure integration of Dean Foods operating principles for the location(s) for which they have responsibility.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collaborates with group management to develop and execute overall logistics strategy ensuring alignment with competitive business strategy.
    • Partners with Commercial VP and commercial team to secure/coordinate new customers, drive promotions for increased business and address service issues with customers as appropriate.
    • Leads the distribution teams within the assigned group ensuring proper coaching, training, performance management and talent management.
    • Ensures all direct reports understand, cascade and achieve the distribution goals and key metrics. Ensures timely and accurate completion of all KPIs, forecasts and other reporting requirements.
    • Approaches work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset and engages in Group Leadership (GLT) Team structure.
    • Develops and is held accountable to Group AFP (Annual Financial Planning) process, capital planning and productivity initiatives.
    • Understands and drives productivity initiatives as well as overall cost conscious culture.
    • Ensure optimization and care for all distribution and fleet assets ensuring proper maintenance within assigned divisions.
    • Optimizes intra-division logistical activities.
    • Owns Safety Culture, ensuring safety strategies and tactics are employed as required.
    • Ensures integration of Dean Foods standard operating processes into the field organization.
    • Ensures proper employee relations culture and programs are in place.
    • Ensures compliance with all regulatory (OSHA, DOT, EPA) requirements.
    • Ensures effective management of all 3rd party relationships including property leases

    Minimum Requirements:


    • Bachelor's degree required in business, or related field
    • 10 years’ managerial distribution, transportation or logistics experience in multi-site facility. Experience should include research and cost reporting procedures, budgeting, inventory control as well experience in routing software, GPS systems and routing optimization.
    • Strong Interpersonal Skills
    • Strong Excel and Other Microsoft Office Products
    • Strong DSD (direct store delivery) background.
    • Experience with handheld computers, ASN, SBT, Scanning, and other store receiving platforms.
    • Proficient in use of MS Office Suite.
    • Project management skills
    • Financial skills to develop analysis and budgets
    • Regulatory knowledge in applicable federal, state and local guidelines (DOT, OSHA, DMV)
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (verbal and written).
    • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background and criminal checks).
